Purrfect Summer

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins... Besides winning the ARC signed by the BEST YA author ever, you probably have been wondering what I've been doing.

Well, I seen Michael W. Smith in concert with my mom and sister, Jayde:

Here he is:

After that, I came home and ate dinner and took webcam photos with my sister, Jamie:
How we b lookn?
All smiles:

LMAO.
You like the stache?
You like the boobs...
I found the girl from the Grudge...LOL.
We R THE Hood...
My best friend's a G :P

During the week, I study business law, do online surveys for money, and write short stories for my short story collection.
I also have been driving:
And I cooked dinner last Thursday:

Last weekend I went cat-sitting with one of the best, Sarah Grina.
Here's the kitties eating dinner after we arrived. :)

This is Lexie, the girl kitty:

And this is my boyfriend, Mr. Whiskers:

On Friday we ate dinner with sparkling wine: Salad. Check.
Entree. Check.
Sparkling Wine. Check.
And in case you were wondering, I've discovered I like Merlot. :)

On Saturday, I went jogging around the neighborhood with Sarah. I don't jog often and it was good to know my Seventeen workouts and Pilates have helped me stay in shape because I didn't even lose my breath at all.

After jogging, we got ready to hit up the mall and the movies.
We saw Bridesmaids. It was SO FUNNY. I was still laughing from it two days after seeing it. Go SEE IT!

Saturday night, we had dinner and watched Sex and The City.

Then we did Youtube karaoke. No, we didn't make a Youtube video. My sister and I will be doing one, though. Stay tuned for that.

Overall, we had a sexy time. Here's a pic of me looking kissably sexy ;-)

LMAO. You know you just want to kiss that face. ;-)

Anywho, the last thing I wanted to announce is that I'm going to do a two month Facebook strike and it starts on June 1st.
Why? You ask. Let me tell you.

Facebook has started to make me depressed. I have started to dislike people who I'm "friends" with on there, it's boring, and to top it all off, someone I truly care about has refused to add me on Facebook and it bums me out EVERY TIME I log in. So in an effort to make a BOLD statement and to stay happy and stress free, I'm not going to be on Facebook for two months.

No worries. I will still be updating my Twitter. Twitter is way kewler than Facebook, anyway because for some reason, the strangers I befriend on there are friendlier than the friends I have on Facebook.

My Twitter feed is public so you can view it anytime here: www.twitter.com/ChelseaDeVries. If you have a Twitter, you should follow me so we can chat. :)

I will also start updating more often here and on Youtube.

My Youtube url is www.youtube.com/threefloridasisters and if you have a Youtube acct. You should subscribe to my channel.

Well, I'm going to see how this strike goes. I will be back on Facebook on Aug. 1. So I hope to return to lots and LOTS of love♥ From there, I will let you know if I am fully going to deactivate my Facebook.

Until next time, remember:You can go wherever you want. In the end, you'll always come back to those who are really meant for you♥

Set In Motion

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins...So I know it's been awhile since I updated you on my life story but I've been busy having a Purr-fect Summer. Stay tuned for that story.

God's will is not mysterious and unknown. He's not a God of guessing; he's a God of knowledge and love, and his will is written in the Bible and he can tell you his will for you directly if you are still and know that he is God. (Psalm 46:10).

All my life, my life alone, has served as an example that God has written my life story because the way it reads so far is far greater than anything I could ever write myself.

Recently Susane Colasanti, my favorite YA author, had a Q & A interview through Twitter and when you asked Susane a question, you were entered to win an ARC of her newest book, SO MUCH CLOSER, signed by Susane herself.

So I entered on a whim and asked Susane if she had any love advice. You know me, all for love and romance♥

She didn't get to answer my question but the next day when I logged onto Twitter, Susane had tweeted my name along with five others as the winners of the signed ARCs.
I was freaking out! Ask my mom if you get the chance.

The reason I was so ecstatic was first because I admire Susane a lot. She's a Jersey girl just like my mom, and she's living the dream that I have for myself. One day I hope to go on a book tour with her. I just know it would be SO MUCH fun. :)

The second reason I was so ecstatic was because Susane's publisher, Penguin picked me as a winner. Penguin is my dream publisher. I focus on reading all the books they publish because if I want to be published by them, I have to have an idea of what they publish.

As you know, I'm still working on my third novel and I guess you can say, I'm getting it Penguin-fied. LOL.

Therefore, I believe by me winning this contest on a whim and being chosen by Penguin as one of the winners, God's will has been set in motion regarding me being nationally published.

Until next time, remember: With God ALL THINGS are Possible (Matthew 19:26)♥

God is Enough♥

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins...That's the first thing I was forced to learn this summer.

Speaking of summer, let me tell you a story about my first summer adventure.

It all started last Saturday. My family and I went to Fred Howard Beach and beached it up. Check the graphics below, yo:

We bring the heat TO the beach. You feel me? ;-)

We acted silly, as usual.

Then, Monday I started my online class and continued working through Tuesday.

I actually am enjoying this class. Must have either hit rock bottom or hit my head on a rock. :o LMAO.

On Monday, I missed someone who means a lot to me.

Yet, I started listening to Keith Moore's Walking In the Light and the foundation scripture is James 1:22-23- Be a doer of the word and not a hearer only because you are deceiving yourself.

That scripture has followed me all week. Therefore, I knew I was meant to not just hear that word from God but act on it.

Because I missed that person and don't want to be the girl who doesn't follow her own love advice about not pursuing someone, God told me three things I must do this summer to not only heal my heart from missing this person but to make me a better person. These three things:

1. Learn to drive and get your dang license.
2. Learn to cook and make a dinner yourself by the end of the summer
3. Make a notebook of letters to the person you miss and give it to them when you get back to school. This gift will end up being a gift that keeps on giving. :D

Finally saw this movie last night:

Most definitely the best of the three Twilight movies. I may be biased when I say this because I thought Eclipse was the best of the Twilight books.

Today, I went to Busch Gardens for the 3rd annual Glory in the Gardens

Today's main attraction was Mary Mary but Lecrae was the opening act:

Here's what he looks like up close.

Isn't he handsome?

Besides that obvious fact, he's in love with my hubby Jesus♥

I think you should definitely check him out. One of his newest songs I really like is called God is enough. It just reminds me that God is all we need to experience true joy.

His newest album is called Rehab. Overdosing on Jesus never sounded so good!

You can currently get it on Amazon for $5. Go get it now!

Also, look at my new roommate. Isn't she the cutest?

Until next time, It don't matter how the world see us because we still mean the world to Jesus- Lecrae♥

P.S. Don't forget to treat your mother right tomorrow and for the rest of her life. She's the only mother you got. Take care of her. :D

Also, tune in to ESPN at 4p.m. est. to see the first stop of STREET LEAGUE SKATEBOARDING live from Seattle, WA. :D

Ten Things I Learned as Sophomore At Saint Leo University♥

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins... My sophomore year taught me ten new things that I figured I would share with you so without further ado.

One:Invest in a Lanyard or be prepared to get locked out of your room.

The first two days of the academic year, I put my room key in two different places in my backpack and lost place of it but luckily the RA was sitting at the desk in the lobby of my dorm building. Otherwise, I would have been locked out till my roommate at the time got back from hanging out with her friends. So, the moral of this story: buy a lanyard or a key ring for your keys and always put them in the same pocket in your bag.

Two:Going home? Make a list.

Throughout the semester, I get homesick. I can't even imagine how my out-of-state friends deal. Anyway, I would go home every 3 or 4 weeks. In the process of packing my necessities to take home with me, I would always forget something vitally important. For example, the weekend I was going to that Etnies skate demo at the skatepark of Tampa I forgot my camera. My dad didn't want to hear me whine all the way home so he turned around when we were half-way home and let me get my camera. All the way home, though, I found new ways to place the forbidden f-bomb in phrases I never thought of before. It was oh so pleasant! Another time, I was going home and my parents had plans to take us to the beach, I forgot my beach bag while another time, I forgot my razor. :o No worries. Everything worked out and no, I didn't rock my Neanderthal leg status at the beach that weekend. LOL.

Three:Communicate with your roommate.

Freshman year of college, my roommate moved out at the end of Fall semester and I had the whole room to myself for the whole spring semester. This year, I was blessed with a roommate who fit my schedule. She was always studying and she rarely slept. Being that I sucked academically my freshman year, she helped me channel what I neglected from all those years in the IB programme and I finally learned how to focus and study to get decent grades. I will talk about this later in the post but I cannot thank her enough! Yet, she had a friend who practically lived in out room that I didn't care for the moment I met her. I will spare the gory details but needless to say, this person was a freeloader and used our room as her personal storage unit/nap station. I should have told my roommate from the beginning that I wanted this girl out but she continued to let her in because I didn't speak up. The moral of this story: Have clear communication with your roommate. If you do, you will save yourself pointless drama and arguments later on.

Four:Choose a healthier diet and lifestyle habits.

At the beginning of the year, I gained a lot of weight because I have been a skinny girl with a fast metabolism for most of my life and like most skinny girls, we all have really bad eating habits because we are blessed with good metabolisms. Yet, as soon as I realized I gained all that weight, I went back for the spring semester and made sure to watch what I ate. I cut out soda, fried foods (well I still fell for those gosh darn delicious mozzarella sticks), chips, and stopped overeating cookies and desserts as well as ice cream. Instead of soda, I would drink water or green tea with all my meals except breakfast and when I had a craving for soda, I would get juice with sprite mixed in to fool my taste buds into thinking I was drinking the fatty juice. Since I rearranged my eating habits and started using the gym two to three times a week every week, I lost a good ten pounds from Christmas break. Moral of this story: Choose healthy. Live longer.

Five:Switch from coffee to tea.

From birth, I've needed caffeine to survive. See, I was born premature and I might have died if they hadn't pumped caffeine into my blood stream. The reason for caffeine is because premature babies typically suffer from apnea because they have underdeveloped lungs so the caffeine helps them breath better. Anyway, I've always been a coffee junkie. Yet, this year during my fall semester I had a lot of trouble sleeping. I tried everything. I counted sheep, prayed until I started praying in tongues, turned my computer off thirty minutes before bed, and went to bed earlier. Nothing worked. I would still lie in bed feeling as though I could have stayed up all night.
Then, my dad told me that I should try eating pumpkin seeds before bed. I tried that and it worked. I would get drowsy and fall into a really deep sleep. The only hindrance is that I would still wake up and have to pee in the middle of the night. Once I would wake myself up, I couldn't get back to sleep.

Spring semester started and I still had insomnia. Then, I realized because I work at the library later in the afternoon, I had a tendency to drink coffee at 2 and 3 in the afternoon sometimes even as late as 5 p.m. Therefore, I started drinking tea and would stop by five p.m. This actually worked. Now, of course, I didn't cut out coffee for good. I would only drink it on Fridays and Saturdays because I typically stay up later those nights anyway. What I found to be so strangely funny is that when I stopped drinking coffee that first week, that Friday I drank my first latte I actually got an instant headache from the coffee. My body eventually got used to my switch and for the rest of the semester, no insomnia whatsoever.

Six: Watch your spending and save.

You would have thought I learned the value of a dollar my freshman year. Apparently over the summer, I lost all sense of the concept. Fall semester, I bought a lot of wants instead of needs. DVDs, music, shoes, clothes, books, etc. Spring semester, I smartened up. I started watching how I spent my money and only bought something nice if I honestly had the extra cash to. It worked. I finally have realized my mother was right all these years and money really doesn't grow on trees. Yet, I know now that Jesus is my source and he provides all my needs according to his riches in glory! My father is the King of Kings. He has a bank full with more money than this world hasn't even seen. That means I have access to all the riches I could ever need. Praise Jesus! Moral of the story: no binge shopping online. Watch your wallet.

Seven: Speaking of wallet, keep an eye on it.

This year, I lost my wallet. Then accused one of my closest guy friends of stealing it. It was so traumatic. God-willing, I found my wallet at the library lost and found. It was all still there except I lost 12 dollars but as one of my other friends said to me: "You gave somebody a meal that they might not have had if you didn't lose your wallet." I was able to bless someone even in my misfortune. Everything really does happen for a greater purpose, people. Just remember, always know where your wallet is.

Eight: Toto, we aren't in high school anymore.

Sadly, with a lot of the drama I was involved in this year, I was really surprised that people think the school is called Saint Leo High School. FYI, it's not. Yet, some people are so desperate for attention in this world that they think the world is a stage for the drama they create. They spread rumors saying they got raped by the school player or they racially profile people and expect people to apologize to them. Wtf? Check yoself before you wreck yoself, people! This isn't high school anymore. You are eighteen, nineteen, twenty, maybe even twenty-one years old. Please act your freaking age and grow a little maturity, please, for everyone's sake.

Nine: Studying really does pay

This year I lost one of my main scholarships because I didn't keep a decent GPA because my freshman year, I thought college was a social playground instead of a school. I really suffered. I even had to pay for most of my tuition. :/ It was hell in a handbag. Anyway, I finally learned how to study and focus in class. I even got up for an eight AM class for most of my spring semester for the first time in my college career. It all paid off. I raised my GPA and got straight B's this semester. Heck yes! Not Dean's list material yet but just a lot closer to achieving that goal. The main thing I realized from studying this semester is even thought college textbooks are dry and boring, if you read them and take notes while reading, you actually do twenty times better in the class than when you don't read the books and just attend lectures. READING is kewl, people.

Ten: Stop worrying about love

Remember last year's ten things post where I said love in college doesn't exist because the male population still act like immature boys who only seek one thing? Well, I can vouch that once the summer's over and those freshman boys come back for their sophomore year, they get even more manly looking and they actually GROW UP. It's like God sprinkles them with Miracle Grow over the summer and they come back looking and for the most part, acting like men. Personally, my fall semester was rough. I spent most of it chasing after a boy who wasn't ready to be in a relationship. Let me just reiterate ladies: It is never a good idea to chase a boy. Sure, you can make the first move and give him a hint that you have an interest in him but after that, leave the rest to him. Coming back for spring semester, I adapted this philosophy into my love life:

As soon as I gave God the reigns of this area of my life completely, he did not disappoint one bit. I finally had my first real glimpse of love. I cannot thank God enough for blessing my heart with such joy and happiness through the love of a particular boy. Moral of this story: If you stop over-analyzing love and just give love away, you will be blessed beyond measure.♥

Speaking of God writing my love story, I have started reading When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric and Leslie Ludy. Cannot put it down. You must get a copy of this book and devour it. It will feed you so much especially if you have questions about relationships involving God. Buy it here: ----> http://www.amazon.com/When-Writes-Your-Story-Expanded/dp/1601421656/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1304274262&sr=1-1

Until next time, don't be a wallflower in the dance of life♥

Go have the most EPIC summer of your life, readers. :)

He is Risen: A Dog's Easter Weekend Tail

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins...Before I tell you the story of Geni's Blessed bday weekend, let us all PRAISE JESUS for what he did today. He rose again, conquered death, and took all sins, sickness, poverty, relationship problem, debt, financial curse, etc back to hell and left them there so there is NO REASON if you have Jesus as your savior that you are continually bogged down by these trials. Jesus said in John 16:33(My favorite verse): "I have told you these things so that in me you may have perfect peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation, trials, distress, and frustration; but BE OF GOOD CHEER! For I have Overcome the world[I have deprived it of power to harm you and have CONQUERED IT FOR YOU]." Next time you are facing a trial or tribulation, remember that Jesus conquered it for you already then tell that trial or tribulation to go back to hell with Satan. Say, "In the name of Jesus, He conquered this for me. I call it conquered; I call it done. I have strength in Christ who strengthens me. In the name of Jesus, Satan you are defeated." I really mean it. If you want your mountain of a problem to go away; you must speak to it. Mark 11: 23-24♥

Final thought on Easter that I found this morning while reading my Bible, "If you walk around with your nose in the air, you're going to end up flat on your face, but if you're content to be simply yourself, you will become more than yourself." Luke 18:14♥

Anywho, Geniveve's bday was Friday. She turned 11 and this year I went all out on her gift: Nothing LESS than a dog celebrity gift basket for my starlet pooch. :)

This year for Geni's bday we took her to Honeymoon Island's dog beach. She fell in love. I mean, I guess it was bound to happen considering she lives in Florida and she has the soul of a skate/surf dog.

Here's the beach bum herself: Everyone was amazed that she was so chill and just stayed on her towel most of the time. Geni just knows how to act her age.
Geni took her first swim in the Gulf:
Beside the fact that it was Good Friday and my mom had a semi-stigmata experience after she went to chase our umbrella after it just up and blew away, she landed on a patch of sandspurs and had them all digging into the bottom of her feet and she still might have splinters in the bottom of her feet. Then, she felt like Jesus did when he carried the cross when she carried all our stuff to the car. She felt humbled to somewhat feel what Jesus did.

Other than that, we had a beautiful day and enjoyed spending time with our pride and joy Geniveve.
Here's a shot of the beach:
Here's the beach babes:
Without further ado, here's a video of our fun adventure:
Unitl next time, here's something that spoke to my soul yesterday when I was listening to Lauryn Hill's When It Hurts So Bad, "What you want might make you cry and what you need might pass you by if you don't catch it. What you need, ironically, will turn out what you want to be; if you just let it.- Lauryn Hill" ♥

I can vouch that the last two weeks taught me that this is true. :)

Two days left to the semester. Next week I will be posting the ten things I learned my sophomore year at Saint Leo. Look for it!

I Bared it All

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins... If you clicked this blog post in hopes in finding a naked expose of me, you lost, sicko! :)

Yesterday was National Beauty Peace Day and Seventeen Magazine started a pledge to get girls to celebrate peace with their natural beauty by asking them to go make-up free for the whole entire day.

I was all for it and told all my friends to do it. My best friends Peggy and Sarah both did. Here's Peggy, Such a natural beauty.:

And here's two of Sarah, I couldn't pick one over the other because they are both gorgeous♥

And the other one:

Aren't my best friends so beautiful? They are beautiful from the inside out♥

I woke up 30 minutes later than usual and after washing my face, left for breakfast and my college class.

I had assumed that people make such a big deal about whether or not you wear make-up but I was wrong.

I have suffered from bad acne and still don't have a flawless face but I rocked it. Check this pic:

People actually complimented my eye color and my natural beauty more when I wasn't wearing make-up than when I do.

A guy friend of mine even couldn't resist trying to kiss me. :O

LMAO. Here's me Charlie Sheen winning:

The thought that kept me motivated the entire day was that I am a Child of God and he made me beautiful♥ Remember that ladies and gents. You are never nothing. YOU are BEAUTIFUL.

I may not were make-up more often. Guys do appreciate natural beauty, ladies. :)

For more information or to sign Seventeen Magazine's Body Peace Treaty visit Seventeen.com <---Copy and Paste. They also have really kewl freebies that you actually win. I've won a few cool things from them. They are still an ah-mazing magazine after all these years in business.

Until next time, remember:‎"Meant to be" doesn't mean "Meant to be now, soon, next year etc." It means "meant to be when everything finishes falling in the right place."♥

The Real Me

Florida born and raised but I've got Jersey in my veins... over this past week, I've come to realize I've lost a few very close friends over the past few months. They all want to blame me for that. I'm not going to say they are wrong because of course, I will admit and apologize for my actions that led up to our friendships ending. Yet, I also feel that this post needs to explain some things about me in general as a person so get ready to hear a personal anecdote.

Growing up, I was the shy girl. Still am in most social situations but between my freshman and sophomore year in college, I finally found my voice. Growing up, though, I would keep things bottled inside and the only time they would release themselves is when I finally found an outlet through writing my freshman year of high school. Before that, I was a psychological mess. I suffered from depression and had thoughts of suicide.

After that, God showed me to Jesus who eventually led me to writing and in the process, introduced me to that professional skater known by the name Ryan Sheckler. Through Ryan Sheckler and writing, I found my purpose in life.

Today, I've matured in both Ryan Sheckler and writing. If you don't know what I'm talking about please see the blogs: The Difference between Love and Respect and It's A Writer's World After All.

In my maturity, as I mentioned before, I found my voice. With my voice, I speak the truth. I speak the truth about my feelings, my opinion, and my beliefs in hopes that people treat me the same.

Therefore, I feel that the friendships that I recently lost and the drama that I've been involved in throughout college, is because people cannot handle the truth. In the words of Lil Wayne, "it's a foreign language" to people. Also, sometimes it hurts because it opens things inside our unconscious mind and heart that we would rather keep locked inside and distract ourselves from dealing with. Not me. I find if you don't face problems head on in life, you end up carrying that weight with you for the rest of your life or end up making your life shorter.

All in all, the real me is OUTSPOKEN, LOUD, HONEST, REAL, FRIENDLY, LOVING, MOODY, STRONG BUT WEAK, NOT PERFECT, MAKES MISTAKES, FUNNY, WITTY, SARCASTIC, SMART, STUPID, BLUNT, SPEAKS FROM THE HEART ALWAYS, A CHILD OF GOD♥

My true friends that I still have know this about me and I know they have my back and accept me for all these things. Those that have chosen to not be my friend or not accept me, most likely secretly cannot face the fact that they want to be me. I know people will read this who are not my friends and be all, "Wow, what a cocky bitch." Not cocky; I'm confident.

I can understand why people would want to be me. I've lived an amazing life. I am extremely talented and have a lot to offer to those that are in need of those things but I am all that I am because GREATNESS lives inside me and that GREATNESS has a name that I speak of every day. His name is JESUS. Without him, I honestly wouldn't be great or extraordinary me. I'd just be plain-Jane ordinary me. So, all of you out there who envy me, cannot forgive me for being me, or want to be me, stop those negative thoughts RIGHT now.

You should not want to be ME; You should want to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and become EXTRAORDINARY GREATNESS just like HIM♥

If you are ready to be an ambassador in Christ, please pray this with me:

“Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your Word says, ‘Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved’ (Acts 2:21). I am calling on You. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10: ‘If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.’ I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.

“I am now reborn! I am a Christian—a child of Almighty God! I am saved! You also said in Your Word, ‘If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: HOW MUCH MORE shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?’ (Luke 11:13). I’m also asking You to fill me with the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me the utterance (Acts 2:4). In Jesus’ Name. Amen!”

Begin to praise God for filling you with the Holy Spirit. Speak those words and syllables you receive—not in your own language, but the language given to you by the Holy Spirit. You have to use your own voice. God will not force you to speak. Don’t be concerned with how it sounds. It is a heavenly language!

Continue with the blessing God has given you and pray in tongues each day. You are a born-again, Spirit-filled believer. You’ll never be the same!"(From KCM.org)

Until next time, in a world where you can be anyone, be yourself!
